I have a huge passion for music. I think if I weren’t a designer I would love to be a musician. When I’m working at home I always have music on in the background and I’m one of those people that cant answer the question “What’s your favourite song?” I tried building a playlist of my top ten to make the task a little easier but currently it has 36 songs on it. To experiment with new ideas I sometimes like to make lyric videos for my favourite songs. I’m a believer that something like a lyric video can fill an interesting role somewhere between responsive visuals and promotional material. Music videos are great but sometimes you want to put a song on and just have something visually relative but not too narrative heavy.
Here you can take a look at a few experiments I’ve put together to explore how the humble lyric video might play a more synaesthetic role in complimenting music. Each of these videos are in some way visually related to the songs concept.
